Examines the implementation and ineffectiveness of anti-doping policies in sports.
Narrated by Emmy-winner Julianna Margulies, The Last Gold is a feature-length documentary film that reveals one of the greatest untold stories in Olympic swimming history. Forty years ago, at the 1976 Montreal Games, a team of doped East German athletes thrashed their rivals from the United States, until a remarkable final race.
The events occur between 4:45 am and 6:15 am in the Colombian jungle. Mark, an American contractor wakes up doped, tortured and hung up by the arms next to a local prostitute that acts as interpreter whilst the kidnappers want to hack a 60 billion dollars bank account. Mark is forced to play a no-win game. Time is not on his side and the only thing missing is the password, the problem is: give it or not, Mark is meat dead
When a crop of doped-up athletes from the Lakecrest College swim team dive into the campus lake to blow off some steam, the bloodsucking leeches below the surface undergo a stunning transformation. After ingesting small amounts of the swimmers’ steroid-laced blood, the slimy creatures grow to unusual sizes and set out to sink their teeth into an unsuspecting student population.
In a near future, the world order has changed. With its 10 millions of unemployed citizens, France has now become a poor country. Its people wavers between rebellion and resignation and find an outlet in the shape of TV broadcast ultra brutal fights in which the players are legally doped and unscrupulous.
